McAllen ISD is on iTunesU!
That makes McAllen ISD one of the first school districts in the country to post curriculum on this electronic format that, until now, has always been reserved strictly for universities. One of the first series that has been posted is an award-winning conversational Spanish TV series that features McAllen ISD students, ?Platiquemos? Story on KGBT Channel 4, KVEO Channel 23, McAllen Cable Network.

The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common
humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. For more information regarding the IB Learner Profile, see your child's teacher. Your child's teacher can give you suggestions on how to support this at home. Are you being IB?

- Morning Drop Off: Driver's are asked to drop off students in the driveway in front of the school and are asked to follow directions given by staff members on duty. Drivers are asked to pull up to the end of the drive way where a staff member is directing. We are able to unload about 15 vehicles at a time if all drivers pull up and allow others to do the same. We have staff on duty to help students out of their vehicles. Drivers need to be patient and give plenty of time in the morning to get students to school on time. The school opens at 7:00am so students can be dropped off starting then. If drivers wait until 7:45am to drop off their child in the morning, the child will probably be late. The best time to drop off students is between 7:00am and 7:35am. Students are expected to be sitting in the cafeteria by 7:45am. Breakfast ends at 7:45am and morning assembly starts at 7:50. Any student not in the cafeteria by the start of morning assembly by 7:50am will be marked tardy.
- After School Pick Up: Driver's are not permitted to get out of their vehicles to take a child from the teacher's line. Nor are driver's permitted to wait in the breeze way of the school or outside sidewalks on foot for the student to be released. When driver's get out of their vehicles and approach the line where students are sitting, this delays the process and is not safe for the student, driver, or staff on duty. We ask that all drivers stay in their vehicles and wait for the teachers to load the children into the appropriate vehicles. School dismisses at 3:30 and we ask drivers to start lining up at 3:15pm and no earlier. Follow arrows and safety barracades at all times. Never move a barracade for any reason. One line will be formed in the driveway and all drivers are expected to pull up and allow other vehicles from behind to pull up as well. Drivers are not permitted to be on cell phones (State Law) and we ask drivers to drive slowly and carefully to avoid accidents. It is recommended that if drivers see the line is long at 3:30, wait until 3:45 to pick up the child. Again, being patient is the key to the process and allowing staff on duty to do their job with minimal distractions. A safety audit was conducted last school year in May and the school was commended for having orderly dismissal procedures in all locations of the school. We were told to continue enforcing the safety procedures and expectations of all students, parents, staff, adult drivers, and bus drivers.
